Minutes from Meeting February 14, 2006 12:00pm Rock Hall

This black History Month, we have many things planned including the Noon Service on Feb 22, The Wallace Best Lecture on Feb 28 at 5:30pm right after The Black History Month community Tea at 4:30pm that same day. Wear Harambee Tshirts :).

Discussion:
The past discussion at Renita's house focusing on the Ethical Issues of Black Leadership, was really deep and got exciting and heated at some moments: Gotta love Black people. Make sure to check out the next one.

Planning for Community Tea:
Discussion about the black trivia portion of community tea. Decided on 5 questions, Jeremy will be the host. Wear Harambee Tshirts.

Black History Month Noon Service



The event will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2006 at (you guessed it) noon.
Harambee members are expected to arrive at 11:30am to help set up and be at the practice on Tuesday evening (email Enesha for details). The theme for the service, in line with the Div School celebration of women, is:

"Remembering Women in the Struggle"
The service is dedicated to the named and unnamed women that participated in the struggle for black rights.
In Remembrance of:
Septima Clark, Alberta Williams King, Bernice Scott, Daisy May Bates, Ella Baker, Billie Jean young, Mary McLeod Bethune, Constance Baker Motley, Margie Pitts-Haines, Bertha Mae Carter, Rosa Parks, Ethel Mae Mathews, Dorothy Bolton, Fannie Lou Hamer, Coretta Scott King, Shirley Chisholm, Betty Shabazz, Victoria Way DeLee, Clara Muhammad, Ruby Doris Smith Robinson, Ida B. Wells, Anne Julia Cooper, Alice Dunbar Nelson, and many more....



The service will include drumming, remarks, slide presentations, prayers for the community, a segment to remember our ancestors, singing of the black national anthem, and you can't forget refreshments (the good ones)!!
